Day Seven: Rest Day
When we went to bed the night before we knew we were going to take advantage of our swanky hotel and sleep in. This turned into a very leisurely morning, which then resulted in another night booked. #winning
Our rest day was glorious! Even though my knee- right knee now and yes this does mean that I have now logged in the books a double knee injury- didn't allow for us to do much walking, our hotel was so centrally located that we were able to enjoy all that Estella had to offer.
Bar Maderno was our first stop. This humble establishment had an adorable patio that overlooked a small, windy road with brick buildings surrounding it. The day was beautifully sunny and when meeting the waitress we knew this would be our home for the afternoon. She recommended the burgers, as they are famous for them, and let me tell you- delish! Hamburgers are one of our favorite meals in Seattle, but wow, this really took the cake! Fluffy, yet crips bun, some type of pepper sauce, bacon that was more like jamon serrano and veggies galore. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Couple that with an amazing conversation and you have the most perfect day.
We finished out our evening by hitting up the pharmacy for a knee brace and ibuprofen gel, grabbed some ice and elevated the knee while watching David Attenborough and learning about plants- in English! Did you know lady bugs have a symbiotic relationship with pine trees and prey on aphids that threaten the forest?
Real good stuff, I know.
