Seville…

If I could bottle up a smell, it would be of Sevilla. Not like the scents you find in perfumes that are often too sharp or too sweet, but more like when a child chases fireflies at dusk and scoops them into a jar to watch them twinkle, up close and more intimate than in the night's vast sky. My jar would be filled with orange tree blossoms, lavender sprigs and a warm and tangy breeze of cured meats and sweat. It's the most intoxicating scent. If I could, I would watch it dance in my jar and lift the lid ever so slightly and breathe it in. Then I would close it up quick and tight, so as not to lose too much of it. I'm sure its dance would look something like flamenco. I can hear the thumbs snapping and the feet smacking the wooden floor. Sevilla. My most favorite city, my most favorite scent.
